This
small cobbled area is where local’s visitors take coffee,
brunch or dinner beneath hanging baskets cascading with beautiful
blooms. From the courtyard the restaurant’s front door
leads into an attractive interior. |
|
Rough plastered mustard walls downstairs and
the deep aubergine walls upstairs are covered with guitars,
accordions, drumkits and wonderful music posters covering all
eras, reminders of Mike Holloway’s passion for music.
By day, expect anything from brunch of bacon, egg, and chips,
soup and homemade bread, and filled baguettes. With evening
candles the mood changes, the cooking delivering seared scallops
with Proscuitto and sun-blushed tomatoes, for example, or homecured
salmon with dill mustard sauce. Mains take in Hungarian fish
stew, and ever changing specials boards courtesy of Maggie Holloway
who runs the kitchens. The kitchen promotes Cornish produce
wherever possible, a member of the Campaign for Real Food: scallops
from Looe, mussels from Fowey, cheese and wine, and Roskilly’s
homemade ice cream as an alternative to house offerings of apricot
almond tart, or pineapple and ginger roulade. |
